Faith in Jesus Christ: More Than Belief, A Way of Life

By Rod Carlo

When Jesus calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee, He turned to His disciples and asked, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26). That question echoes through time—still relevant, still convicting. Faith in Jesus Christ is not just about believing He exists, but trusting Him enough to follow, enough to endure, and enough to let go of fear.

🌱 Faith Begins with Knowing Him

True faith starts by learning who Jesus is—not just historically, but personally. In the Gospels, we see His compassion for the sinner, His strength in the face of evil, and His unshakable obedience to the Father. The more we understand His heart, the easier it becomes to trust His ways.

“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” —John 10:14

Jesus doesn’t ask us to have perfect faith—He asks us to come to know Him. That relationship is the root of living faith.

⛰️ Faith is Tested in the Storms

Faith isn’t proven in calm waters; it’s revealed in the waves. When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on water, he did what many of us wish we could do—he took a step toward Jesus, even when it made no sense.

But when the wind and waves distracted him, he began to sink.

Still, Jesus didn’t scold him for sinking. He reached out and saved him. Faith isn’t the absence of sinking—it’s the act of reaching out while we’re sinking.

🔥 Faith in Christ Means Moving Forward Even When It’s Hard

Jesus taught that the way would not be easy—but He also promised we wouldn’t walk it alone. Faith means trusting that His yoke is easy and His burden is light—even when it doesn’t feel that way at first.

Faith shows up when we:

  • Pray without immediate answers
  • Forgive when it’s painful
  • Give when we’re not sure we have enough
  • Hope even after disappointment

✨ Faith Is Power—Because Christ Is Power

In Matthew 9, a woman with an issue of blood reached out to touch the hem of Christ’s garment. Her faith didn’t make her timid—it made her bold. Jesus honored that boldness, saying, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.”

Faith in Christ isn’t passive—it is powerful. Because it connects us to Him, who has overcome the world.

💬 Final Thought

Faith in Jesus Christ is not a one-time decision—it’s a daily choice to trust, follow, and hope. It’s less about having all the answers and more about staying close to the One who does.

No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, He invites you to keep walking. Even if your faith is small, remember: “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed…” (Matthew 17:20).

That’s enough for Him to work miracles.
